TARSIUS BELITUNG BUKIT PERAMUN | BELITUNG ISLAND WALKING TOUR | INDO TRAVELOGUE

Thetraveljunkie.org – Belitung Island never fails to surprise me. On our latest adventure, we visited Bukit Peramun, one of the island’s hidden gems where nature comes alive after sunset. As the daylight slowly faded, we enjoyed a peaceful dinner overlooking the lush forest before preparing for a guided night walk in search of one of Indonesia’s smallest and most fascinating primates—the Belitung Tarsier. It was the perfect way to experience a different side of Belitung beyond its famous granite beaches. Before entering the forest, we stopped at a small local post where friendly locals introduced us to Tongkat Ali, a traditional herbal drink believed to provide energy for the trek ahead. Sitting together and chatting while sipping this unique drink made the experience feel even more authentic. These simple local moments often become some of my favourite travel memories because they connect us with the people and culture of a destination.

As darkness covered the forest, our walking tour through Bukit Peramun began. The sounds of insects, frogs, and rustling leaves created a magical atmosphere unlike anywhere else. Walking carefully with our guide, every step built anticipation as we searched the trees with our flashlights. Night walks always remind me how alive nature becomes when most people are asleep.

The highlight of the evening finally arrived when we spotted the incredibly adorable Belitung Tarsier perched quietly among the branches. With its enormous eyes perfectly adapted for the night and its tiny body, it was an unforgettable wildlife encounter. Watching this rare nocturnal primate in its natural habitat was a special privilege and another reminder of why protecting Indonesia’s forests is so important.

Bukit Peramun offers much more than wildlife. It combines beautiful viewpoints, local hospitality, and unique biodiversity into one memorable experience. Whether you’re a photographer, nature lover, or simply someone looking for an adventure beyond the usual tourist attractions, this eco-tour is well worth adding to your Belitung itinerary. The peaceful surroundings and knowledgeable local guides make the visit both enjoyable and educational.

If you’re planning a trip to Belitung Island, I highly recommend experiencing the Bukit Peramun night walking tour. From enjoying local traditions to meeting the charming Belitung Tarsier, it was one of the most memorable moments of my Indo Travelogue 2026 journey. I hope my video inspires you to discover the island’s incredible wildlife and support sustainable tourism that helps preserve these beautiful natural habitats for future generations.
