Thetraveljunkie.org – When travelling to the heart of Australia, there’s no better place to base yourself than Sails in the Desert at Ayers Rock Resort. As part of our G’day Australia Travel Series, this stop was more than just a stay—it became a highlight of our Uluru travel documentary. Nestled right in Yulara, this luxurious resort offers comfort, culture, and the perfect gateway to explore the majestic Uluru (Ayers Rock). We checked into Room 219, a spacious and beautifully designed room that immediately felt like home. From the moment we entered, we were greeted with modern interiors, earthy tones, and that signature desert charm. The private balcony allowed us to enjoy quiet mornings with views of the red outback, while the comfortable bed and amenities made it the ideal retreat after long days of adventure.
One of the best parts of staying at Sails in the Desert is the easy access to dining, relaxation, and cultural experiences. The resort features incredible restaurants offering both international and Australian cuisine, along with bars perfect for an evening drink under the desert sky. Guests can also explore Indigenous art displays at the Mulgara Gallery, giving deeper insight into the traditions of the Anangu people.
The resort’s poolside area is another highlight, perfect for cooling off after exploring Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Surrounded by desert gardens and shaded sails, it’s a peaceful escape where you can relax and recharge. For us, the poolside mornings and stargazing nights truly made the stay memorable.
Of course, the real magic lies just beyond the resort. From here, we embarked on incredible adventures to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Whether it was sunrise walks, Field of Light experiences, or cultural tours led by local guides, the location of Sails in the Desert made everything easy and accessible. Room 219 became our sanctuary to return to after every unforgettable experience.
Staying at Sails in the Desert at Ayers Rock Resort was more than just accommodation—it was part of the journey itself. Our travel documentary captures these moments in cinematic detail, but the memories are even richer in person. If you’re planning your own Uluru adventure, this resort is the perfect blend of comfort, culture, and connection to the land.
