Thetraveljunkie.org – Victoria looks so darn magical. Hanging Rock has for sure made its way onto the list. To put it simply, the Hanging Rock is 70km north-east of Melbourne, the setting for the famous book and film Picnic at Hanging Rock. It taken about 1 hour 35 minutes to drive there. The six million year old rare volcanic formation rises up on a plain between two tiny townships 70km northwest of Melbourne.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Blairgowrie, Victoria. Despite the fact that we had such a busy day yesterday, we all woke up at 7.30 am to attend an Easter Egg Party. Ah how I love hot cross buns. We stayed for lunch, caught up with family. And, We went to the beach for Finska, an ancient and seriously addictive log-tossing game from Finland.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Life has been pretty damn good. In Blairgowrie, we’ve been hanging out at the beach a lot. I was utterly intoxicated by all the colours around me. The sky and ocean. The sparkly water. The seaweed. Laughter, smiling and playing wonderfully. Beach finska. Beach drone. Chicos. Cherry ripe. Sandy beach towels. Chips and dips. And, ‘where you lead, I will follow’ by Carole King. It was just so inspiring… and delicious to be immersed in it all.
Thetraveljunkie.org – The last few days have been stunning. Bright blue skies and glowing sunshine. We soak up some vitamin D and we went for a walk along the Point Nepean National Park. Located at the very end of the peninsula. Just strolling and talking. It was very cool. Especially the history. Fort Nepean was a critical part of Victoria’s defences from the 1880s until 1945. The first shot of the British Empire in WWI and the first Australian shots of World War II were fired from Fort Nepean, earning its entry in military history. These battlements were modified and used right up until the end of World War II.
Thetraveljunkie.org – It was almost by chance that we visited the Nobbies on our last trip to Phillip Island. It was not planned to go there, the reason was just practical, thinking about the coastline views and that the places we really wanted to visit were all around the Phillip Island. In the end, that decision was a success, we loved what we found there.
Thetraveljunkie.org – The Mornington Peninsula is one of our favorite places in the world. And, we recently visited Peninsula Hot Springs and wanting to try something new, we booked in for the Clay Ridge experience, an outdoor journey like no other – where therapeutic clay powder is mixed with geothermal water to create the clay which you can then apply to your own skin. Thetraveljunkie.org – Travel means discover new places, different smells, flavours and sensations, in the end is one of the most beautiful experiences in life, and doing it with persons you love is even better. Some weeks ago in Blairgowrie we decided to take the car and just get lost out there. We ended up discovering Arthurs Seat Eagle in Victoria, a state-of-the art gondola and fly over the state forest to the highest point of the Mornington Peninsula. Enjoyed breathtaking views across the bay to the city as you soar above the trees.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Travel is always a pleasure, but when you discover incredible places and learn new things, is even better. On our last trip in Blairgowrie, we visited Sorrento for a sunset. Victoria is no stranger to beautiful, tourist-oriented places and towns. One of its gems is the scenic seaside town of Sorrento. Sorrento is nestled along the coast in the greater Melbourne region.
Thetraveljunkie.org – I love farming and gardening. I love thinking and talking about growing vegetables and fruit. Composting and worm farming. Mulching and water saving tips. I’m no expert, but my eyes will light up and I’ll ramble on for hours. And, when we’re stuck on ideas for some family fun this holidays, get out and about and try our hand at farm volunteering. You’re sure to have some chillies and vegetable fun time in Clayton, Victoria.
Thetraveljunkie.org – When I’m in travelling I often find I’m carrying quite a lot of kit. My daypack can easily weigh 10kg plus, but it’s all there to do a job – even my notebook PC and mobile phones. Mobile phone cameras continue to improve, to the point that I’m now able to capture high quality images. I can take multiple photos and shoot 4K videos without worrying I’m going to run out of space.

Thetraveljunkie.org – When in Victoria, we went down to Phillip Island for a unique coastal family retreat. We stayed at Cape Cabin where we found on airbnb, a charming two storey family holiday home with direct beach access immediately outside gate and views overlooking Bass Strait. The Cape Cabin was truly fantastic, the house is just wonderful. The location, the space, the amenities, the facilities, everything was just perfect.
