Thetraveljunkie.org – Singapore’s one of those places we keep going back to, but we decided it was time to see a different side of this city. We headed to Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy situated in the heart of the Katong district. Katong is a fine example of Peranakan culture – a superb mix of both Chinese and Malay influences.
Thetraveljunkie.org – I wasn’t really excited about it because I’m not the type who enjoys hiking up (and down) a mountain. I can still remember my friend laughing at me when I told them we were hiking up a mountain. All my friend was able to say was “Good luck.” — pretty much what I needed. We headed straight to Lumajang in East Java. And suddenly it occurred to me that at 4am we start our climb to Puncak B-29. I tried my best to force myself to sleep at 11 PM. Woke up at 3am to prepare my stuff and get ready for the climb. We all met up at the lobby, got oriented, and boarded the ojeks that will take up to the starting point of the climb.
Thetraveljunkie.org – The March is the perfect time to travel, although if you haven’t had the chance to enjoy your holidays first, the best thing for you to do is to discover your own city. Lumajang in East Java really does have something for everyone and making it the best time of the year to explore. The best time of the day to venture off is the morning and we suggest you wear comfortable stuff. The truth is that we like the Tumpak Sewu or Coban Sewu waterfall throughout the whole year, whether it rains, or its super hot. Each season offers a different perspective and being able to trekking around the waterfall is totally priceless.
Thetraveljunkie.org – There are two types of people: those who enjoy a relaxing holiday under a palm tree and those who want to go on a activity holiday. We’re part of the second group and that’s why when we stayed in Karimunjawa Island we organised a snorkeling trip around some of the unknown islands.
Thetraveljunkie.org – During our stay in Surabaya we stopped over at Madura Island, to visit one of the world’s most amazing places, the Aer Mata Bangkalan. We’re pretty sure that you would have seen at least one photo of this canyon in someone’s screen saver or hung up on someone’s wall because it is truly amazing.
Thetraveljunkie.org – We went to Grand Mercure Jakarta Kemayoran restaurant for dinner with my Bojo. The place was clean, the decor was modern and fresh, and the staff were friendly and efficient. And here are our experience between Buntut Mercon and Pan Fried Norwegian Salmon:

Thetraveljunkie.org – As much as we love the excitement of the Big Durian, a weekend away is always something to look forward to and a weekend away in Solo Raya was no exception. Just a short flight away, the trip to Soekarno-Hatta was the longest part of the journey there!
Thetraveljunkie.org – In the morning at Grand Mercure Jakarta Kemayoran. After a late night enjoying the glorious bathtub, a lazy sleep in was just what we needed. We woke ravenous to a delicious spread of hot and cold breakfast delights laid out by the friendly hotel staff. Hot coffee, freshly baked bread and tropical fruits. Our favourite drink was the delicious tamarillo juice, a hotel signature, garnished to perfection.
Thetraveljunkie.org – I’ve always loved going back to Jakarta. Even if a lot of people say that Jakarta is a ‘city of hope’, I think it’s still one of the best places you should visit when you’re in the Indonesia. This time, My Bojo and I decided to stay in Grand Mercure Jakarta Kemayoran, provides easy and convenient access to any part of the city and various destinations.
Singers provide all the proof that we have souls.

Thetraveljunkie.org – We love coffee. We tend to go out for one almost every day and it is the perfect chance for us to relax and have a chat in some of our favourite South Jakarta spots. Whenever we are away we search for new, good coffee shops like crazy. During our March trip to Jakarta we arrived at Gordi, at Jeruk Purut area – following various recommendations from friends. The atmosphere is super chilled out and the decoration invites you to relax completely. The wifi connection is fab, and this is not to be overlooked specially when traveling!

Thetraveljunkie.org – Where there’s a will there’s a way. So the waves were huge between Jepara and the Karimunjawa Islands and we couldn’t get there by speed boat so we jumped on the local ferry and spent three hours rocking and rolling until we got there. The last hour of the trip was spent hanging off the side feeding the fish!
