Thetraveljunkie.org – Very excited to share the images I shot recently in the hotel and the sky with Garuda Indonesia! Happy to be heading to Jakarta for the start of the Java trip tomorrow! After Surakarta I’ll be headed to Yogyakarta and Karimunjawa Island for the ‘we are still wild’ project. Looking forward to being back in Indonesia after a restful holidays at home in Japan. Za Watami Party In Tokyo

Thetraveljunkie.org – We’ve just landed in Tokyo Dome Hotel and while we get ready to travel to our next destination we wanted to leave you with a few photos from a dinner party we spent at Za Watami Suidobashi West-Dori, a remodel from the traditional “Watami” that has been constructing the “Ishokuya” market since 1992. The restaurant interior features Japanese paper, unvarnished wood, mud wall, natural wood and latticework that enhance warmth, nostalgia and comfort. The restaurant offers a sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere. We were there for getting to experience traditional Japanese; the perfect combination of music and food.

Sensoji Temple and Asakusa

Thetraveljunkie.org – The Sensoji Temple really does have something for everyone. It’s the oldest in the city as well as the busiest, so coming across a thousand other people when visiting is actually the norm. We loved getting lost around its streets and finding lots of traditional shops where we bought a few ceramic pieces for our house and a kimono. After grabbing some food in one of the street stalls, where everything was delicious, we crossed the Sumida river and walked until we got to Tokyo Skytree, the tallest tower in the world.

It really is the perfect opportunity to grab local brands. If you like good design, you can’t miss these place. After this, we recommend that you head back to the Sensoji Temple on foot to enjoy the sunset whilst you walk around the town.

Sometimes we don’t even have time to stop and think so we just go with the flow and limit ourselves to doing what we love most: photography. We spent an afternoon in Tokyo, we only had a bit of free time so we went for a walk around Ginza, did a bit of shopping in the shops that were open and got ready to go to the event we’d travelled to attend.

There were lots of tables and lots of seating. It was roomy and comfortable. I really liked the fresh, modern feel, yet it had a warm, quirky atmosphere.

Walking Around Harajuku

Thetraveljunkie.org – Harajuku in Tokyo, is one of Tokyo’s most famous and busiest quarters. Walking around here is a lot of fun. There are lots of shops, urban tribes, purikura, crazy outfits, themed coffee shops and plenty of ice cream parlours and creperies. We made the most of our visit and bought a few t-shirts and hats and a few other souveniers.

Meiji Jingu Shrine Photo Diary

Thetraveljunkie.org – We love Tokyo. A few weeks ago we went to Meiji Jingu Shrine and it was an incredible experience. We saw a traditional wedding procession — the bride in a white kimono and hood and the groom in his formal black robe, walking together under a big red parasol, with Shinto priests leading the way and the rest of the wedding party trailing behind.

It was wonderful to get lost in such surroundings, it totally takes you to back in time to live Sofia Coppola movie. It had been a while since we had such a good time at a party, this has undoubtedly been one of the best yet!

Thetraveljunkie.org – It’s 7am. Your alarm goes off. You open tour eyes, you get up and look out of the window. The light, the white trains and the sun reflecting off Tokyo’s skyscrappers wish you a good morning. It’s the first time we’ve woken up at The Tokyo Dome Hotel in Tokyo, bang in the middle of Tokyo. Being so near everything and having a bird’s eye view to enjoy it all is amazing. We had an incredible room which allowed us to take in Tokyo’s unique light.
