JAKARTA WHERE WE STAY | VERANDA HOTEL | INDONESIAN FOODS, HAIRCUT, VISITING PARENTS | JAKARTA VLOG

Thetraveljunkie.orgWelcome to Jakarta! In this vlog, we take you along on a journey that blends cosy hotel stays, comforting Indonesian food, and heartfelt family moments. Jakarta is not just Indonesia’s bustling capital – it’s also a city of hidden gems, nostalgia, and flavours that make every trip feel like home. From staying at Veranda Hotel to enjoying a hot bowl of bubur ayam, this day in Jakarta is all about comfort, culture, and connection. Our stay at Veranda Hotel Jakarta was the perfect way to begin. This boutique-style hotel offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ideal for both leisure and business travellers. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, where Indonesian hospitality shone through with every dish. The modern design, peaceful ambience, and convenient location made it an excellent base to explore Jakarta.

The next morning, we started the day with one of Indonesia’s most beloved street foods – bubur ayam. This savoury chicken congee is a true breakfast classic in Jakarta, topped with crunchy crackers, fried shallots, and a drizzle of soy sauce. Nothing beats the comfort of a hot bowl of bubur ayam to fuel a busy day in the city. For travellers looking for an authentic Jakarta food experience, this dish is a must-try.

After breakfast, I revisited a special place from my childhood – Pangkas Rambut Pasundan, a traditional barbershop on Jalan Ulujami Raya. Getting a haircut there felt like stepping back in time, with the same familiar atmosphere and attention to detail I remembered from years ago. It’s little experiences like this that make travelling back to Jakarta feel so nostalgic, reconnecting me with simple joys and old routines.

Our journey continued with a visit to my parents’ house, where we spent time reminiscing and enjoying the warmth of family life. The highlight of the day was joining my mom in the kitchen, cooking delicious Indonesian food together. From the aroma of traditional spices to the laughter shared while preparing meals, it was a beautiful reminder that food is more than just nourishment – it’s about love, memory, and heritage.

This Jakarta vlog is a celebration of home, hospitality, and heritage. Whether it’s staying at Veranda Hotel, enjoying street food like bubur ayam, or sharing a home-cooked meal with family, Jakarta offers a unique blend of modern comfort and heartfelt tradition. For travellers, expats, or locals returning home, the city never fails to remind us why Jakarta always feels like home.
