Thetraveljunkie.org – Raja Ampat, often dubbed “The Last Paradise on Earth,” is a dream destination tucked away in Southwest Papua, Indonesia. In Episode 5 of my Indo Trip 4K travel documentary, I explored some of Raja Ampat’s most iconic and awe-inspiring spots, including the beautiful Avinsea Homestay, the picture-perfect Piaynemo viewpoint (famously seen on the IDR 100,000 banknote), and the stunning Telaga Bintang (Star Lagoon). Join me as I share the unforgettable experience of sailing through crystal-clear waters and venturing into nature’s untouched beauty. We began our journey at Avinsea Homestay, a charming local accommodation right on the water, surrounded by coral reefs and peaceful island vibes. It was the perfect base to soak in the slow life of Raja Ampat. Waking up to the sound of the waves, watching the sunrise from the jetty, and eating freshly caught seafood prepared by the locals truly immersed us in the Papuan way of life. Avinsea offered that genuine connection to nature and culture that you can’t find in commercial resorts.
From there, we hopped on a wooden boat and cruised through the turquoise waters, surrounded by limestone karst islands that seem to float on the sea. The highlight of the day was hiking up to Piaynemo Viewpoint, a landscape so iconic it’s featured on the Indonesian 100,000 Rupiah banknote. Climbing those steep stairs under the tropical sun was a challenge, but the panoramic view from the top was absolutely worth every drop of sweat—an ocean dotted with dramatic islets, a true postcard moment.
Next, we sailed to Telaga Bintang, also known as Star Lagoon, named after its unique star-shaped formation seen from above. It’s a magical spot where you can swim, drone, and simply marvel at nature’s art. The water here is shallow and calm, perfect for snorkeling or just floating while being surrounded by cliffs and silence. No loud tourists, no city noise—just pure serenity and tropical dreams.
Throughout the video, I captured the soul of Raja Ampat through cinematic 4K visuals—vibrant corals, local smiles, and jaw-dropping drone shots. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a nature lover, or a slow traveler, Raja Ampat delivers something unforgettable. The untouched beauty of Southwest Papua is like no other—raw, real, and utterly inspiring.
If you’re planning your own Indonesian adventure, I highly recommend including Raja Ampat in your itinerary. Watch the full Episode 5 on my YouTube channel to experience this paradise for yourself.
