Thetraveljunkie.org – Singapore Airlines LOST OUR FREEDIVING LONG FINS and LOST OUR DREAM TOO! Our long-awaited freediving trip to Raja Ampat, Indonesia, turned into a nightmare because of Singapore Airlines. What was supposed to be an unforgettable adventure became a story of disappointment and frustration. We flew from Brisbane (BNE) to Singapore (SIN) on SQ 256, and continued on SQ 962 to Jakarta (CGK), arriving at 5:45 PM. Upon arrival, we discovered that our oversized pink baggage—containing our freedive long fins (essential sports equipment)—was missing. We had a connecting flight to Sorong (SOQ) with Garuda Indonesia GA 680 at 11:45 PM, giving us more than 6 hours in Jakarta. That should have been enough time to locate the missing gear—but Singapore Airlines offered us no help at all.
We were at Terminal 3 Ultimate, Soekarno-Hatta Airport, desperate and pleading for assistance. No one from Singapore Airlines took responsibility. No follow-up. No support. We even posted on Instagram, tagging @singaporeair and @singaporeairid with a plea for help.

“Hi @singaporeair, we lost our pink oversized baggage (sport equipment long fins) and our next flight to Raja Ampat with @garuda.indonesia tonight! ??? We want freediving at Raja Ampat tomorrow ??? HELP!!!”
But by the time they replied—it was already the next day. We had landed in Raja Ampat without our gear, and our plans were completely shattered.
Our pink freedive long fins finally arrived in Jakarta at 11 PM (no one help us to transfer our freedive fins to GA 682 or Pelita Air at 1 AM) and we could pick up at Sorong Airport, heartbroken and empty-handed. All the preparation, planning, and excitement was crushed.
This wasn’t just luggage. This was our dream. We came to Raja Ampat to freedive—and we couldn’t even enter the water properly.
Singapore Airlines, You Let Us Down
Your lack of care and urgency was shocking. You had time to fix this. You had time to help. But you didn’t.
We’re sharing this story not just to express our pain, but to warn other travellers, especially those carrying sports or oversized equipment—think twice before flying with Singapore Airlines.
This experience left us traumatised and deeply disappointed. We trusted you with our dream. You let us down.
We are done with Singapore Airlines.
Bye.
