Thetraveljunkie.org – A few weeks ago we spent a couple of days in Bandung. We love visiting different spots in Indonesia and especially those that we haven’t been to before, it always makes us think that you don’t have to travel far to see amazing things. We enjoy going away and being at one nature. Not very long ago we discovered a place in South of Bandung which is great for getting lost and taking photos: Kawah Putih, a volcanic crater with a beautiful turquoise lake.
Thetraveljunkie.org – After our trip to Ijen Crater, we decided to drive in the direction of Baluran National Park, ‘Indonesia’s little bit of Africa’, this park was once extensive grasslands covering some 250 sq km on the northeastern corner of Java. After 1.5 hours on the road, we arrived at the information office and they told us what route to follow to cross the park. We had very little time as it would soon get dark, so we tried to be as quick as possible.
Thetraveljunkie.org – In the midnight, my friends and I travelled around Banyuwangi. One of my favourite memories was hiked down into the Kawah Ijen, where blue fire can often be seen streaming down the mountain at night. The glow is actually the light from the combustion of sulfuric gases.
Thetraveljunkie.org – I woke up at 3.30am in Gili Trawangan Island. I turned my alarm off and sat up in bed. I blinked and saw that it was pitch black outside. The street lights were still on. The stars were still out in the sky. I got up and changed into my walking gear, in the dark. I grabbed my baggage, my jacket and snuck out of the hotel. I ate my casual breakfast at the dock, but in the dark.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Walking hand in hand with my friends, under a spectacular setting sun in Gili Trawangan Island, one of those places where you just can’t get a bad sunset. You can catch a thousand sunsets there and never tire of them. If you haven’t spent an evening there, I double dare you to. That moment when pinks and orange meet a horizon, my spirit dances. A sunset makes me smile.
Thetraveljunkie.org – We went all the way to Gili Air Island in Lombok to enjoy tropical hot sun on the beach, long lunches and good music. It was the best way to get some vibes and rejuvenate our souls with the sea breeze. Gili Air Island is one of world’s most beautiful islands.
Thetraveljunkie.org – When we stayed in Gili Trawangan Island we organised a snorkeling trip around Gili Meno Island. It was a totally incredible experience – amazing to see all the different creatures that call the sea home.
Thetraveljunkie.org – The most important thing about traveling is the actual experience. The sensations and memories that you will take away from a unique and special holiday. A few days ago we went to Gili Trawangan Island in Lombok and our trip was wonderful, the kind of trip that you enjoy every minute of.
Thetraveljunkie.org – We left our Golden Tulip Mataram hotel at 8AM and we got the bus to see one of Lombok’s most special spots: the Sasak Sade Village, a heritage village that captivated us with Sasak houses, the peace, culture, indigenous life and the fab views. We got lost in its little streets and took these photos on our morning off. We loved walking around, tucking into homemade Kain Tenun Ikats. It was the best way to a nice leisurely walk because there was no wifi!
Thetraveljunkie.org – There are two types of people: those who enjoy a relaxing holiday under a palm tree and those who want to go on a activity holiday. We’re part of the second group and that’s why when we stayed in Makassar we organised a snorkeling trip at Kodingareng Keke Island. We woke up at 6am and we went to Kayu Bangkoa Peer from our hotel. The wooden boat was waiting for us to spend the rest of the day under the sea.
Thetraveljunkie.org – One of the things that we like most about traveling is eating local food and Makassar is home to the perfect spot, which became our favorite place to eat like a local: Pallubasa Serigala and Rumah Makan Muda Mudi.
Thetraveljunkie.org – We travelled to Makassar for the second year in a row to attend one of our favorite heritage spots, the Fort Rotterdam. The original fort was rebuilt in Dutch style after the Treaty of Bungaya in 1667. Inside the fort, Museum La Galigo has an assortment of exhibits, including rice bowls from Tana Toraja, kitchen tools, musical instruments and various costumes.
