Thetraveljunkie.org – In today’s post we wanted to take you around Sigtuna, Sweden’s first town, founded in the 10th century. Small-scale and pedestrian friendly, with charming wooden buildings by Lake Mälaren, less than an hour outside of Stockholm. Good selection of stores, cafés, restaurants and hotels, plus an interesting museum. The district is rich in rune stones, to fascinate history buffs. Sigtuna can be reached by train, bus, or boat from the center of Stockholm.
Thetraveljunkie.org – The best thing to start off the morning is to have a fika (a break involving a coffee and a treat of some kind). Sweden has one of the highest coffee consumption rates in the world and finding a coffee shop is pretty easy. This time we went to Vetekatten at Kungsgatan, central Stockholm, one of the scores of well-preserved, tradition-packed coffee shops where you can sample traditional Swedish pastries of superior quality. The coffee is delicious and the decor so gorgeous that it’s practically impossible not to enjoy breakfast.

In today’s post we wanted to take you around the old city or Gamla Stan and show off the many different things Stockholm has to offer. Gamla Stan is like a living, pedestrian friendly museum filled with sights, restaurants, cafes, bars and places to shop. The narrow, winding cobblestone streets, with their buildings in different colors, give Gamla Stan its unique character.

Blessed with 11,500km (over 7,000 miles) of coastline (not including the islands) and around 100,000 lakes, it’s little wonder the Swedes love to nature. Sweden has 29 national parks and more than half of the country is covered in forest, so the countryside is a huge part of life. Thetraveljunkie.org – Happiness begins at home. Traveling in Sweden has reconfirmed my belief that you don’t have to spend a lot to have a magical holiday. The Swedish summer holiday is about taking time out and going back to basics to enjoy the simple things in life – whether that’s simply hanging out at home or heading to a small, basic summer cottage by the sea or deep in the heart of the countryside, to enjoy reading, baking, bathing, board games, crafting or simply hanging out with friends and family and drinking in as much sunlight as possible before the autumn leaves start to fall.

We headed to Stockholm central station by metro to Rågsved for a very special project. We found Snösätra Graffiti Wall of Fame, one of Europe´s largest graffiti exhibitions. The other day, we went to 25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian Hotel and our stay was amazing, the kind of stay that you enjoy every minute of.
Thetraveljunkie.org – On today’s post we visit Hofbräuhaus, a feast for the senses, with an oompah band and waiters in dirndl and lederhosen balancing armsful of Maß frothing with Hofbräu Original, a Munich Helles lager brewed according to Reinheitsgebot standards. Hofbräuhaus once brewed beer exclusively for the royal court. Starting in 1828 an inn was established in the brewery. Today Hofbräuhaus is the meeting place of native locals and travel junkies from all over the world. And, you’ll need an eagle eye to spot any empty seats.
Thetraveljunkie.org – When in Munich, We found the 25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian Hotel as one of the most charming hotels in Germany. A building with its own rich history: In the last century, it still served as a building for the postal service and a royal telegraph station. Located at Munich Central Station, is a wonderful way to start walking every little street.
Thetraveljunkie.org – One of the things we like the most about big cities such as Munich is being able to enjoy them from a different perspective. We’re constantly on the lookout for the best view and we came across a pretty cool one during our last trip to Germany. We were walking around Marienplatz when we came across the Old Town Hall. We found the St. Peter’s, the oldest church in the city, where you can enjoy the city once we arrived on the top floor.
