Thetraveljunkie.org – We love nature. We’ve learn to love it and appreciate it more as the years go by and to find in it many things which we can’t find elsewhere: peace, freedom and inspiration. A few days ago we headed to Blora in Central Java for a very special project and our final destination was a secret until we arrived there. We had no idea that we would end up in Goa Terawang, a Javanese cave, and it turned out to be one of the most incredible places we’ve ever been to.
Thetraveljunkie.org – There’s something quite magical about staying a hotel for the first time. It’s that feeling you get when you walk along the corridors you’d never seen before, or when you taste the food which you’d only ever seen in photos and get to see the staffs. A few days ago we went to Solo Baru and it was an incredible experience. We stayed at the Best Western Premier Solo Baru.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Last week we went down to Solo Baru to shoot an episode of our Love Central Java series. We had already been in the city a few days ago but we can almost get away with saying that this was our first time and the experience was incredible, thanks to, in part, the hotel where we stayed.
Thetraveljunkie.org – It’s 9am. Your alarm goes off. You open tour eyes, you get up, look out of the window from 20th floors, and you get an american style breakfast in bed. The light, the suburb and the sun reflecting off Solo Baru’s skyscrappers wish you a good morning. It’s the first time we’ve woken up at The Best Western Premier in Solo Baru, bang in the middle of Central Java. It’s two blocks away from The Park and a few minutes away from Hartono Mall. Being so near everything and having a bird’s eye view to enjoy it all is amazing. We had an incredible suite room which allowed us to take in Solo Baru’s unique light.
Thetraveljunkie.org – It was Waldjinah’s birthday on Monday. We went to her house, had a surprise party, took photos and had a fantastic day together. We were lucky enough to meet up with her, a superwoman who sold the Keroncong based in Solo. Here are some of the photos of us on her day.
Thetraveljunkie.org – A few weeks ago we went to Solo in Central Java for the ‘office days’. We had been wanting to visit Solo for ages and the truth is that it didn’t disappoint. In today’s post we wanted to take you around the city and show off our ‘office’ which the many different things Solo has to offer.
Thetraveljunkie.org – One of the things that we like most about traveling is being able to meet new people. A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to meet up with Sugiyamto and Suwandi, duo talented Javanese Batik entrepreneur based in Sragen, Central Java. Here are some of the photos that I took of us walking around his Batik factory and store. Feel free to check out his workshop if you fancy finding out more about Batik Sragen and Batik Solo. Batik is regarded as a cultural icon with its own uniqueness. It contains symbols and a deep philosophy of the human life cycle.
Thetravelunkie.org – It is easy to have the perfect night in Solo, Central Java. The best thing about The Alana Solo is that there’s plenty of things to see and do. If you do go, don’t forget to go to the spa for 2 hours Javanese massage and special dinner at the restaurant, then your night is absolutely perfect.
Thetraveljunkie.org – October is the perfect time to travel, although if you haven’t had the chance to enjoy your holidays first, the best thing for you to do is to discover your own city. Solo in Central Java really does have something for everyone. The best time of the day to picnic by benly motorcycle is the morning and we suggest you wear comfortable stuff. The truth is that we like the traditional market and the sugar factory in Colomadu throughout the whole year, whether it rains or its super hot. Each season offers a different perspective and being able to motorcycle around the factory or enjoy a photo session on a dry morning is totally priceless.
Thetraveljunkie.org – After our road trip around East Java we spent a few days in The Alana Solo Hotel in Central Java before heading home. We now understand why it’s a popular favourite. As it was our first time there we made sure to stay in one of the city’s most traditional areas and so The Alana Solo Hotel, was the perfect location for business and leisure. We’ll be publishing a guide about our Java trip soon but in the meantime, here are some photos which we took at the hotel. Enjoy the views!

Thetraveljunkie.org – This dry season, My friends and I went on our little trip from Labuhan Bajo to Kelor Island. It was a new kind of adventure, a best of the 60s playlist that gave us all the feels and a world of unknown places just waiting for us to explore. I’ll admit, I was a bit unsure about this trip, mostly because I like to have a plan, a detailed itinerary if you will, but this trip was about spontaneity and allowing ourselves to be free.
