The freedom that you feel when days are slightly longer, you have less responsibilities and you have more time for yourself and to enjoy the magic word: holiday. And, today we bring you the photos which we took in Samalona Island, one of the places that we were dying to see in Makassar. It’s an incredible natural space where you can enjoy nature while having the place to yourself.

Thetraveljunkie.org – While we were in Makassar for our trip of wonders, I had the absolute pleasure of eating at Rumah Makan Bahari. I had such a wonderful time talking to everyone, laughing, chatting, eating, floating, taking pictures and just being me. We stretched along one wall of the restaurant, spread over 3 long, narrow tables. The atmosphere was humble, simple, minimal and friendly.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Hello from South Sulawesi! After a three hour flight, last Saturday we landed in Makassar. We were dying for this trip, it’s a thousand time in a long time that we truly are on vacation and we couldn’t think of a better backdrop than palm trees, tropical lovelands, nemos, young coconuts and hot sun -sometimes too much even-. Today we show you Bantimurung National Park photos, strolling about “kingdom of butterflies“. Everything seems so taken-from-a-movie that it’s hard to believe.
Thetraveljunkie.org – One of the things that Almere is good for is the library, hence why we decided to visit De Nieuwe Bibliotheek Almere, where you will find one of the best library in the world. De Nieuwe Bibliotheek Almere is based on a new concept where the library is composed of a number of ‘specialist shops’ that appeal to different interests and areas, such as youth, culture, travel, health, etc.
Thetraveljunkie.org – There’s something quite magical about visiting a Javanese-Suriname home for the first time. It’s that feeling you get when you walk along the streets you’d never seen before, or when you taste the food which you’d only ever seen in photos and get to see the family. When in Almere, I visited to Mas Latin family for the first time and it was an incredible experience. I stayed at his home for Eid Mubarak. And I love to keep a record of the events on my blog, so here goes!

For cycling lovers, Almere is the world’s most cycle-friendly city. In this city you find lots of cycle tracks. In the forests and nature you will find several attractive bicycle routes.
Thetraveljunkie.org – When in Almere, Marlon invited me to a birthday party. They invited friends and family, all aunties, uncles, parents and grandparents. We love taking photos of people and family style, but you also know that we love to take photos of food.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Today we bring you to the Plaosan Temple complex in Klaten, a Buddhist temple built by a queen, Pramodhawardhani or Sri Kahulunan from Sailendra dynasty in 9th century. She was assisted by her husband, Rakai Pikata a Hindu king who built the famous Prambanan Temple. As incredible as Central Java is, it’s a world away from English speaking culture. Thetraveljunkie.org – Returning to Solo was pretty special – but I have to say, the Sunan Hotel was unforgettable. Located at west gate of Surakarta, 4 km from Mangkunegaran Palace, 5 km from the Sunan’s Palace or Kraton, 5 km from Goverment Center, 5 km from the famous shopping area of Pasar Klewer. Thetravelunkie.org – Today we want to share these photos from Sri Gethuk Waterfall, which we always visit whenever we are in Gunung Kidul, and it seems to transform us back in time. Walking into the waterfall allows you to open the door to a different era, the perfect way of forgetting about everything and just taking in the sound of water, birds and atmosphere.
Thetraveljunkie.org – The other day, we went to Goa Rancang Kencana in Gunung Kidul. We love visiting different spots in our country and especially those that we haven’t been to before. We’re pretty sure that you would have seen at least one photo of this cave in someone’s screen saver or hung up on someone’s wall because it is truly fantastic.
