Parks and green areas abound, and the distinctive white archipelago boats travel to the islands all year long. The atmosphere is open and welcoming, and diversity and innovation are encouraged. Stockholm is a city for everyone. Here’s a video why you should make Stockholm your next destination. Check out our highlights video of the trip. I love you, Sweden!

The Story of ABBA The Museum

Thetraveljunkie.org – ABBA the Museum is a self-effacing place. on the Stockholm island of Djurgården, it’s located between the wholesome outdoor museum of Skansen and the Tivoli Gröna Lund amusement park – which feels perfect for Abba’s unique blend of pop seriousness and exuberance. On the other hand, the museum is largely underground. Which feels appropriate, really. The museum tell the story of Abba’s career – from their breakthrough Eurovision hit “Waterloo” in 1974 to their split in 1983 – via photographs, audio clips and snazzy jumpsuits. Here are these lovely photos which smell of “knowing me knowing you, I’ve been waiting for you, tropical loveland, and thank you for the music”.

ABBA The Museum Boat Tour

Thetraveljunkie.org – Truth be told, my Stockholm trip has been very special. And ABBA The Museum is one of my favorite museums. Enjoy listening to the story of ABBA, one of the most famous pop-bands in the world, from the waterfront. See the epic places where parts of ABBA The Movie were recorded and experience several of the places where the iconic pictures of ABBA were shot. And of course I got to hear many of the popular ABBA hits along the way. The boat took me around the beautiful and peaceful Djurgården and the tour finished at ABBA The Museum at Djurgården where I walked in the footsteps of ABBA.

Sweden Archipelago Tour

Thetraveljunkie.org – I made a promise during my last slow trip around Sweden: to repeat the experience in France. That is why a few days ago I packed my rucksack, took an archipelago tour from Stockholm to Vaxholm and set off to spend a great weekend away. I visited places that none of me had previously visited during three days and reached one conclusion: you don’t have to fly thousands of miles away to see amazing things. The plan was that there was no plan, I just wanted to enjoy nature and my new friends

The Travel Junkie x Border Music, Stockholm

Thetraveljunkie.org – It is no secret that Border Music is one of our fave music distributions — has been an independent music distributor in over 30 years and launched artists like The Knife, First Aid Kit, Club 8, The War On Drugs and Antony and the Johnsons. We met up with our friends from Border Music in their offices at Liljeholmen, to see the new collections and we were pleasantly surprised with a ‘photo shoot’. Once again, they have created fun, colourful songs and this winter is gloomy Stockholm. We cannot stop thinking about Swedes tunes. All we need now is winter songs. Long live Border Music!

Thetraveljunkie.org – Walking to get completely lost is the best way to get to know new places. This is exactly what I did in Stockholm walking around the Södermalm, Kungsholmen and Östermalm when we came across our new favourite place, Erna’s Bistro on Brantingsgatan 27, serving delicious food that combines Indonesian and Swedish cuisine and with a great atmosphere which will see us return on our next visit. Here are some of the photos from our visit!

Bike Sweden Vibes

Thetraveljunkie.org – I joined a cycling group to do a fun way to rediscover Stockholm! We started at Historiska Museet, shopping centre, where stop to eat like a local. Yep, we rode along the glorious view of the city – the Stockholm City Hall (Stadshuset), the Stockholm Palace, and the scene-district of Södermalm.  I was super keen to do this ride – particularly because I’ve always wanted to ride all the way into the city!

Get A Duck’s Eye View of Stockholm!

Thetraveljunkie.org – If there’s something I share is my growing love for nature. Paddle in the city and archipelago! Rent a kayak or canoe and paddle your way from island to island. Paddle among all the city’s islands and walk ashore when you feel like it. Have a coffee break, or even take a swim before paddling onward. An incredibly special way to discover Stockholm.
