Paroisse Saint-Eustache Vibes, Paris

Thetraveljunkie.org – I love spending the evenings walking around Paroisse Saint-Eustache, taking in the Jardin Nelson Mandela park and the evening’s colours. Paroisse Saint-Eustache is a barn-like church, built between 1532 and 1640, has a Gothic structure but Renaissance decoration in its façade and Corinthian capitals. Among the paintings in the side chapels are a Descent from the Cross by Luca Giordano; pieces by John Armleder were added in 2000. Murals by Thomas Couture adorn the 19th-century Lady chapel. There is a magnificent 8,000-pipe organ.

A Smaller Paris With The Travel Junkie

Thetraveljunkie.org – Paris is the most important events and the most daunting because the shows are often held so far apart from each other. The good side of that, is that you get to see parts of Paris you may never have discovered otherwise. The downside is, you spend most of your time getting from one location to the next. Thanks to Cinq-S, my Paris seemed a little smaller this time around.

Walk the Ile Saint-Louis, Paris

Thetraveljunkie.org – Yesterday morning I was walking around behind the Notre-Dame gardens, the Pont Saint-Louis pedestrian bridge leads to the atmospheric streets and lively shopping of the Ile Saint-Louis. A perfect walk for flaneurs just taking in the majestic facades and quiet courtyards of beautiful 17th-century mansions, this peaceful island is truly an oasis. Enjoy traditional Parisian fare at the Brasserie de l’Isle Saint-Louis or sample one of the 90 scrumptious flavors of handmade, all-natural ice creams and sorbets—in flavors like wild strawberry, noisette, rum raisin, and white chocolate—at Bertillon, Paris’s most famous ice-cream maker. Ile Saint-Louis I love you!

When in the Tour Eiffel, Paris

Thetraveljunkie.org – Today I am publishing these photos which was taken in the Tour Eiffel when I travelled to work with a local agency. The Tour Eiffel, faced massive opposition from Paris artistic and literary elite when it was built for the 1889 Exposition Universelle. It was almost torn down in 1909 but was spared because it proved an ideal platform for radio antennas. Today some 6 million make their way to the top each year. It was wonderful to get lost in such surroundings, it totally takes you to back in time to live Zazie Dans Le Metro movie.

Discover the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris

Thetraveljunkie.org – Hallo Cathédrale Notre-Dame! I am ‘working’ in Paris and I am of course taking advantage of the trip to get to know the city. One of the most popular attractions in Paris, Notre Dame cuts a dominating figure on the Île de la Cité in the middle of the Seine. The spindly gothic buttresses and magnificent stained glass windows make it as much a treat to see from the inside as out. Meanwhile, in the square and bridges around the cathedral you’ll find assorted buskers, from full live bands to human statues, which always draw a crowd. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame is stunning. It’s full of heritage.

Bonjour Musée du Louvre, Paris

Thetraveljunkie.org – we arrived in Paris to work on a very special visit France project. We are so happy and drying to tell you all about it. In the meantime, here are some photos of Musée du Louvre, Paris. The Palais du Louvre was constructed as a fortress by Philippe-Auguste in the early 13th century and rebuilt in the mid-16th century. In 1793 it became the Musée du Louvre, one of France’s finest museums. And we love going back more and more every time. We cannot stop falling in love with this city, we enjoy its bridges, buildings and historical museums, coffee shop terraces and it’s magical light.
