Thetraveljunkie.org – When in Cibeo village, Baduy Dalam. I stayed at Kang Sarta home. Baduy homes are simple, constructed only of natural materials such as bamboo and palm thatching, without windows and without furniture or other furnishings.

They use no modern utensils, mechanised equipment or manufactured materials such as glass or plastic. Within the Baduy territory there is no electricity or other modern conveniences. No electronic equipment, motor vehicles or other instruments of the outside world are permitted to enter.

The Baduy or Kanekes are divided into two sub-groups; the Baduy Dalam and the Baduy Luar.

No foreigners were allowed to meet the Baduy Dalam, though the Baduy Luar do foster some limited contacts with the outside world.

Thetraveljunkie.org – The other day, I stopped to have a 1 hour iced green tea chat with friend before setting off to explore Nusa Dua, Bali.

The place was family-frendly, relaxed and I really enjoyed the casual, modern atmosphere, the sound of half a dozen languages flowing around us with traditional tunes and seagulls creating a background chorus.

We talked about tea leaves, tourism, blogging, digital marketing, music, hospitality, Bali and strategies. It was just such a brilliant feeling.
