Welcome Dinner at the Karuizawa Prince Hotel West

Thetraveljunkie.org – We had a welcome dinner party at the Karuizawa Prince Hotel West. The atmosphere was formal, humble, simple, minimal and modern. I have no special dietary requirements, only that I want to eat really good food. I like to try a bit of everything and most times I don’t know what to choose… so I am absolutely happy to trust the chef and eat whatever he creates.

Autumn in the Ruins of Komoro Castle, Nagano

Thetraveljunkie.org – One of the things that we like most about autumn is going for the ruins of Komoro Castle, one of the 100 famous castles of Japan. Utilizing the natural geography, the castle was built in a uniquely narrow area in relation to the town. We love spending some time around different spots near Nagano before the first snow starts to fall. The warm days and cool nights create especially vivid colors in the foliage.

Expect to find local farmers selling their produce – a real festival of colours, smells and flavours! In the cool highland breeze at the foot of Mt. Asama is one of the prefecture’s largest apple orchards.

Lunch Like A Japanese at Oginoya, Annaka

Thetraveljunkie.org – The Oginoya was one of our great discoveries on the way to Komoro. It’s a really Japanese restaurant with a charming atmosphere on the first floor on the corner of souvenirs. The miso soup was delicious and the rest… we can’t remember what it was. You have to order your food by looking at photos or Kamameshi “kettle rice”, a traditional Japanese rice dish cooked in a pot.

Solo Ya Sunan

Thetraveljunkie.org – It’s not even a secret that we love Solo, Central Java. Every time we go for work we leave craving for more, so last week we used some days off to get away, get lost around the city, meet some friends and make tons of plans. This time we stayed in the Sunan Hotel, one of our favourites, in an outstanding house with a proper number, 2615. When a house has its own name it means it has personality, an entire new concept of city living where Solo’s modern buildings blend with Javanese decorations, full of incredible pieces, that made our stay unforgettable.

Thetraveljunkie.org – During our trip to Central Java to visit the spirit of Java we stayed in one of the most impressive hotels in town: Lorin Solo Hotel. What makes this movie-like hotel in Last paradise, apart from its beautiful gardens, it is its Javanese architecture. Every single corner is full of details and make it one of the most photogenic hotels in Solo. One of our fav parts was the pool – it made you travel to some other place, or even age.

Discover Goa Terawang, Blora

Thetraveljunkie.org – We love nature. We’ve learn to love it and appreciate it more as the years go by and to find in it many things which we can’t find elsewhere: peace, freedom and inspiration. A few days ago we headed to Blora in Central Java for a very special project and our final destination was a secret until we arrived there. We had no idea that we would end up in Goa Terawang, a Javanese cave, and it turned out to be one of the most incredible places we’ve ever been to.
