And, for me Tokyo is like a jungle, humane and touristic. I liked it, it is super convenient when you go everywhere by train.
Thetraveljunkie.org – My friends and I went to Sail O’s – a Chinese restaurant in Shibuya, Tokyo. I would often walk past it and think, Oooh I’ve never eaten Chinese food in Japan before, we have to try this place!
The interior was nice and cosy. There was no long wait for the food. When it arrived I was mildly surprised that it looked and smelt very similar to Peranakan cuisine.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Shibuya Crossing is the busiest pedestrian crossing in the world. It is an unquestioned must-visit for any trip to Tokyo.
Shibuya, the hood with everything. Cutting-edge fashion boutiques, world-class nightclubs, hip bars, dining options ranging from fancy washoku eateries to dirt-cheap diners – if you want it, you can probably find it here.
Thetraveljunkie.org – We took the subway to Shibuya. Upon exiting Shibuya station, we came across the bronze statue of Hachiko, Shibuya, Tokyo.
This is a statue of a dog who always waited for his master to come home on the afternoon train (if you don’t know it, Richard Gere made the rather mawkish Hachiko: A Dog’s Tale in 2009).
One day, his master didn’t come home. Still, the dog waited at the same time every day for 9 years, until he died. His loyalty is commemorated every year on the 8th of april.
Thetraveljunkie.org – At the intersection of Chuo-Dori St. and Harumi-Dori St., there are symbolic architectures of Ginza including the renowned Mitsukoshi Department Store and Wako Clock Tower.
The perfect place to start a Ginza walk.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Curry Kitchen Venus by cafe madu is your stop – it was pretty small. I liked it immediately!
We arrived at 11.30am. It wasn’t busy or noisy. The waitstaff were friendly.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Shinjuku is a district of entertainment. A place that lets you fully enjoy your shopping as it is filled with everything from fashion and electric appliances to delicious food.
I went to Lumine Est Shinjuku for store-hop all day. Situated above the east exit of Shinjuku station, this place is chiefly notable for the Shunkan gourmet restaurant area, created by celebrated designer Sugimoto Takashi, on the seventh and eighth floors.
Thetraveljunkie.org – The other day, I was decided on the Skytree and walked right to the base of the observation tower to take a ticket to the top.
The tallest freestanding broadcasting tower in the world boasting 634 meters (2,080-foot) in height. A view of the entire Kanto region include Mount Fuji on sunny days can be enjoyed from the two observation decks located 350 and 450 meters above the ground.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Exploring Tokyo Skytree town, with travel junkie.
The new highlight, the Tokyo Skytree, has come to add spark to old downtown atmosphere. This area is now gathering attention from all over the world.
Thetraveljunkie.org – He had a breathtaking view of the Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru when he walked to the Sakuragicho Station in Yokohama, Japan.
Pink Martini & Saori Yuki’s Blue Light Yokohama became his theme song for this moment.
Thetraveljunkie.org – I was invited to dine at Mangia Mangia, a modern Italian restaurant in Yokohama Landmark Tower, Japan.
It was large and spacious, it had carpeted floors, cushioned chairs, nice curtains to dampen all the restaurant noises… and it had a “fine dining” with live music feel to it.
Thetraveljunkie.org – Yokohama is a great city to explore by foot but hiring a bicycle will help you see more, do more.
