Traveljunkieindonesia.com – If you’re looking for a moment of morning repose, head to the world of heritage at Sensoji Temple, Asakusa – Tokyo.
With over 30 million visitors a year, Senso-ji holds a special place in local hearts.
Otherwise known as Asakusa Kannon, Senso-ji is metropolitan Tokyo’s oldest temple and dedicated to Kannon, the bodhisattva of compassion.
Traveljunkieindonesia.com – The oldest temple in Tokyo said to have been built in 628. Most of the Sensoji temple was destroyed during Allied bombing raids in 1945.
In a local example of corporate philanthropy, the main Kaminarimon Gate – famous for its giant red lantern – was actually restored in 1960 through a donation from Konosuke Matsushita (Panasonic’s founder).
Traveljunkieindonesia.com – I chose it from the JR Yamanote Line because it just looked so CRAZY YELLOW and sexy golden ring at the same time.

When you’re looking to get up high, head to Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Centre 8th-floor viewing deck – a tourist information facility in Taito Ward, found in front of the Asakusa Kaminarimon gate – where you can gaze out over the town of Asakusa and the Tokyo Skytree.

Traveljunkieindonesia.com – While we were in Tsukiji Fish Market, my local friend, Yumiko san, took me to Marukita II for breakfast. It was perfect!
It’s a very pretty place. The interior, furniture, decor, indoor setting, lots of tables, in-keeping with japanese vibe.
We had to sit at 2nd floor. The waitress was kind enough to bring us a green japanese tea.

The whole ocean is here at Tsukiji fish market, and we had a fantastic time!
This is where the best sushi-ya’s in town come to auction for the highest-quality cuts of fish each morning, and after that locals and other restaurateurs come to see what’s fresh in for dinner.
